Fine Art Studio has free online support to help you set-up your own website to market your art work. It is free for the first 60 days and then after, you pay for the service. Although it isn’t free, it does take the hassle out of establishing a website and selling you own work.
No. 1 Artist seems to be a solid choice for your first experience in selling your artwork online. Membership is free and No. 1 Artist markets your work. Viewers can purchase pieces you have posted or contact you personally for a commissioned project.
Etsy is ranked as the best online resource to sell artwork. Creating an account is free with an active e-mail account. Etsy is connected to Twitter and many other blogs that helps re-connect your work to more viewers.
Artfire gives you the option of setting up a free online store without any commissions or monthly fees. However, they only allow you to post 10 pieces at a time. This site might be a good starting point for an artist until they are ready to mass produce.
The Artist’s Web: Promoting Artwork Online
The Artist’s Web markets your art at a global level. You can try managing your own website for free with a 14 day trial. Or you can simply upload images and let Artist Web take over.
Art Quiver is a great site to find art from well established US artists. Art Quiver selects the artists they wish to market through their site. Although a great site to see great work, not a great site for an upcoming artist.
Found Myself is a great site to start selling and marketing your work. This site is open to both buyers and sellers free of charge. Found Myself is the first site to work on the Honor’s System. Up front there is no charge with the promise that after a few successful sales you will donate to the website.
Fine Art America is a great tool to link artists to art galleries. Both can sign-up and create accounts for free. It too works similar to a blog or twitter allowing the artist or gallery to update their status of events or new posted pieces.
Boundless Gallery is very similar to Fine Art America where it connects artists to galleries and vice versa. This however, is all offered at a cost. There are 3 levels of accounts each at a yearly fee and a percentage of commission.
Image Kind is a great starter website for artists. As with many other resources, Image Kind offers different levels of accounts ranging from a free, less flexible account to many monthly fee options with almost unlimited flexibility.
